Bemutatkozás
The construction of the museum began on 01.November 1994 on the initiative of the Setu Farm Museum Foundation and the museum was openend on 17 July 1998. The branch of the Setu Farm Museum in Saatse, which was founded by Viktor Veeber, head of the local school, has been open to visitors since 1974. In May 2004, unique tea house /tsäimaja in the local dialect/will be opened, the contruction of which is financed within a Phare project from the funds of the EU.
In the Setu Farm Museum you can admire farm architecture, old toos and a rich collection of handicraff items dating from the end of the 19“ and the beginning of the 20“centuries.
The expositsion comprises a half-enclosed yard, a dwelling, storehouses for clothes, grain and food, a bam with a hay shed, a workshop, other sheds, a smoke sauna, a pottery, a smithy, a barn and kiln house and a tea house. The majority of the buildings are original and originate from Nothem Setumaa.
Additionally, thematic exhibitions comprising old and modem subjects, from handicraft to art, archaeology and history are organised by the museums. You can celebrate Talsi Holiday, participate in Setu Lace Days, folklore parties, folk calendar holidays and in farm work. |
