Description
Järvamaa Museum was founded in 1905 by Järvamaa Heritage Preservation Association to allow intensive exploration of the nature and history of Järva county. Järvamaa Museum performs the role of the central museum of the county by supervising other museums and conducting the research on native places. The ancient history can be traced through the permanent exhibition at Vallitorn stronghold. The main building houses funds, the office, as well as the exposition. Approximately a 70,000-item-collection includes a lot of interesting exhibits - furnishings of an old Paide chemist`s shop, a room from a manor house, a craftsmen` s room, an apartment of a Paide citizen from the 1960-ies etc. Temporary exhibitions are exchanged almost ten times a year. Exhibitions held outside the premises of the museum introduce various themes related to Järva county.
